Bram Vanderbeke

Ghent, Belgium

Bram Vanderbeke is a Ghent-based Belgian artist and designer who graduated from the Design Academy Eindhoven in 2016, having previously trained at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Ghent. His practice is built around what he calls Architectural Objects: monumental designs with a distinctive materiality that operate as both autonomous artistic forms and functional objects. Stacking is central to his method: the deliberate, physical act of placing one element on top of another is the generative logic behind much of the work. His brick and concrete casting series, which includes Brick Stools, Brick Bench, Brick Cast, and the ongoing Brick Chair editions, explores the use of standard construction bricks as formwork for concrete, producing furniture and objects whose surfaces carry the direct imprint of their making. Alongside the brick series, Vanderbeke produces Alu Casts: objects cast in aluminum using found or improvised molds. He is a founding member of BRUT, the Belgian design collective. Gallery representation includes Uppercut (BE), Gallery Hioco Delany (BE), Galerie VIVID (NL), and Nilufar Gallery (IT). Vanderbeke received the Flanders Architecture Prize in 2026.
