BRUT is a Belgian collective of 5 designers founded in 2018: Charlotte Jonckheer, Linde Freya Tangelder, Nel Verbeke, Ben Storms, and Bram Vanderbeke. The collective emerged from the natural convergence of their individual practices, which share a common idiom, set of concepts, and design vision. BRUT focuses on the architectural, sculptural, and emotional potential of design, producing collective installations that contain and emphasize individual works while proposing jointly designed functional objects and structures. The collective is committed to formulating shared answers to individual questions, for both domestic and public contexts, and is dedicated to materials across all states, from raw industrial elements to precious metals and textiles. BRUT has a permanent presentation and meeting space, BRUT Depot, at Haptic House Antwerp, and was awarded the Henry Van De Velde Young Talent Gold Award in 2019. City Remnants is their third collective edition.
