Clementine Blakemore Architects

London, UK

Clementine Blakemore Architects is an award-winning practice based in Hackney, east London. Founded by Clementine Blakemore, who studied sculpture at the Ruskin School of Art under Richard Wentworth before working in film and then training as an architect, first at the Rural Studio in Alabama and then at the Architectural Association, where she received a scholarship, and the Royal College of Art, where she graduated with a distinction. The practice is committed to producing buildings that are inventive, inclusive, and have a positive environmental impact, with a design process rooted in place, local materials, climate, and craftsmanship. Ideas are developed through drawing, model-making, mock-ups, and material research. Completed projects include Wraxall Yard, the conversion of 7 derelict farm buildings in Dorset into accessible holiday accommodation, which was shortlisted for the 2024 RIBA Stirling Prize and won the RIBA Stephen Lawrence Prize. Blakemore was named a RIBA Journal Rising Star in 2023 and is included in the Architects' Journal 40 Under 40. The practice is currently collaborating with Witherford Watson Mann on the Royal College of Art's Darwin Building.
