Stockholm, Sweden / Bern and Solothurn, Switzerland
Ductus is a collaborative architecture and design studio based in Switzerland and Sweden, with offices in Stockholm, Bern, and Solothurn. It was co-founded by architects Andreas Hachen, Dominic Stüdi, Marcel Hauert, and Patrick Müller, who met as students and share a background in technical training; Müller first trained as a furniture maker. The studio's work spans large-scale housing, adaptive reuse, renovations, temporary installations, custom furniture, and product design, and it takes projects from first idea through prototyping, planning, and construction management. Ductus describes process as the core of its practice: each project begins with a clear question and develops through analysis and exchange with clients, users, craftspeople, and authorities. The studio also advises clients on strategy and sits on expert juries and building commissions. Its completed work includes 1930's House in Zurich, House Deitingen and the Stengeli projects in Schwarzenburg in Switzerland, and Bränningevägen in Stockholm. Ductus has been nominated for Sweden's Ung Svensk Arkitektur prize, and its work has been published by Domus, Divisare, Leibal, and Thisispaper.
