Emmanuel Boos

Emmanuel Boos (b. 1969, Saint-Étienne, France) is a ceramic artist working between Mannheim and Paris, holding a practice-led PhD from the Royal College of Art (2006-2011). He apprenticed with Maître d'art Jean Girel from 2000 to 2003 and undertook an artist and research residency at the Manufacture de Sèvres from 2016 to 2020. Since 2022 he has served as a designer and glaze consultant for Hermès. His practice spans modular porcelain brick systems, cobblestone forms, copper red glazed vessels, slabs, and collaborative furniture design. Boos has had solo exhibitions at Jousse Entreprise in Paris since 2005, and his work is held in the public collections of the Musée des Arts Décoratifs Paris, Musée Ariana de la Céramique in Geneva, Musée National de Céramique Sèvres-Limoges, Kunsthalle Mannheim, and the City of Mannheim. Awards include the Grand Prix de la Création 2005, the Jerwood Maker Open 2010, and a Jury Special Mention at the Loewe Foundation Craft Prize 2024. His Comme un Lego received the Award for Best Artist at Collect 2023 at Somerset House, London.
