Gärsnäs

Österlen, Sweden

Gärsnäs is a family-owned Swedish furniture manufacturer founded in 1893, with its factory and headquarters in the village of Gärsnäs in Österlen, Skåne. Since 2003, the company has been owned and managed by Anna and Dag Klockby and interior architect Åke Axelsson, whose first chair for the brand dates to 1963 and remains in production. The factory produces furniture using timber sourced primarily from southern Sweden and Denmark, combining traditional hand craftsmanship with CNC technology. Gärsnäs is particularly known for furniture designed for public spaces, including libraries, conference rooms, and cultural institutions, though the brand has grown its residential offering significantly in recent years. The company operates a circular renovation and renewal programme, accepting back furniture for reupholstering, repainting, and refurbishment. Designers including Åke Axelsson, David Ericsson, Färg & Blanche, Nina Jobs, Pierre Sindre, TAF Arkitekter, Matti Klenell, and David Regestam contribute to the collection. The House of Gärsnäs showroom is located on Skeppsholmen in Stockholm.
