George Davies Studio is an independent furniture design practice founded by George Davies, a California native based in Salt Lake City, Utah. Davies's interest in raw materials developed during his university years, where his senior thesis was a series of welded steel chairs informed by Bauhaus-era designers and a brutalist approach to material experimentation. He began with lighting design before moving fully into furniture. The studio works primarily with sheet aluminum and steel, using brake-forming as the primary construction technique. Davies's stated goal is to create furniture that elevates the spaces it occupies, with clients including boutique locations, custom home builders, and high-end retail showrooms. Work has been featured in Core77, Basic.Space, and Null Society.
