Marquel Rashaad Williams is a Los Angeles-based designer who investigates the relationship between material and form through an independent practice that is both technical and experimental. He combines a functional approach to home objects with a sculptural attitude toward collectible design. Williams is the co-founder of Archived, an archival fashion and design store, for which he created his first products: a hanger, a tray, and an ashtray. He also works as a model. His first furniture collection, Beams, was revealed in 2024 and takes the structural I-beam as its organizing element, transforming a standardized industrial component into a furniture system spanning a chair, chaise lounge, desk, floor lamp, and lounge chair. Subsequent works include the Beam Vase, Beam Table Lamp, and Void Tray. The Beams collection was produced by CALIPER, a Madrid-based Editions Programme. Work has been featured in Sight Unseen and DesignWanted, and Williams has shown at the Collectible Fair in New York and the Haworth Design Lab at NeoCon.
