MATA Architects

MATA Architects is an RIBA chartered architecture practice based in Westminster, Central London, founded in 2015 by Dan Marks. The practice grew out of Dan Marks Studio and works across the full spectrum of residential design, from bespoke furniture and interiors to extensions, refurbishments, and new build homes. The studio approaches each project from first principles, treating curiosity and question-asking as a design tool rather than arriving with predetermined solutions. MATA believes architecture should respond to local context including landscape, culture, and history while remaining bold enough to be original, and describes the tension between old and new as productive rather than problematic. The practice is guided by light manipulation, honest use of materials, and a commitment to sustainability through reinvention and renewal of existing fabric wherever possible. Projects include residential work across London conservation areas and listed buildings.
