MLK Furniture is a French design studio founded by Arthur Moulucou (b. 1989), who graduated from the Bordeaux Architecture and Landscape School in 2013. In 2017 he joined Landprocess, a landscape architecture firm in Bangkok, where he worked on large-scale public projects including Chulalongkorn University Centenary Park, Thammasat Green Roof, and Lumpini Park. The city's neon-lit nightlife became the starting point for his first design: the Ne600 Lamp, a sculptural object that encloses an industrial lighting system between metal sheets and acrylic diffusers. That piece introduced the sandwich design concept, MLK's signature construction method in which assembly elements are inserted between two metal plates, producing objects that can be dismantled, repaired, and reassembled. Back in France, Moulucou opened his own workshop and founded MLK Furniture around a stated Lowtech philosophy: simple, functional, and ready-to-assemble objects made to last and be repaired. The practice is inspired by functionalism and brutalism, whose character and material honesty Moulucou sees as values that hold up over time. Work has been featured in DesignWanted and APOC Store, and sold through Adorno, The Artling, and 1stDibs.
