New South Wales, Australia
Peter Besley makes furniture in his New South Wales workshop, working primarily in Australian hardwoods like blackbutt, spotted gum, and silky oak. He trained as a cabinetmaker in Sydney before establishing his own practice in 2005. Work includes dining tables, benches, and storage pieces built with traditional joinery methods. Besley uses mortise-and-tenon joints, dovetails, and hand-cut veneers. Each piece is finished with oil or wax to show the timber grain. The studio produces both commissioned work for clients and self-initiated pieces for galleries.
