Sandy Rendel Architects is an award-winning practice founded in 2010 by Sandy Rendel, who studied architecture at the University of Cambridge and worked as an Associate at Tony Fretton Architects and James Gorst Architects before establishing the practice. The studio offers a full range of architecture, interior, and urban design services and is based in West Sussex. Work addresses the unique physical, environmental, and cultural contexts of each project with a commitment to sustainable construction and long-term durability. The practice's interest in craft is grounded in hands-on experience with a wide range of construction methods and materials, cultivated through self-build projects. The studio was named RIBA South East Emerging Practice of the Year in 2017, RIBA South East Winner in 2022 for Morlands Farm Dutch Barn and in 2025 for Bury Gate Farm, BD Individual House Architect of the Year in 2024, and Sussex Heritage Trust Award Winner three times. Monkton was shortlisted for the RIBA South East Awards 2026 and published as a building study in Architecture Today in March/April 2026. Earlier projects include South Street Lewes, featured on Grand Designs in 2015 and winner of the RIBA National Award 2017, and The Slot House in Peckham, shortlisted for RIBA Grand Designs House of the Year 2021.
