Siin Siin is a Tokyo-based contemporary design practice for objects and object-oriented spaces, and is the alias of Sumida Kazuya. The name is a fictional onomatopoeia. The studio works across furniture, objects, and spatial design, with a practice grounded in experimentalism and incompleteness, the influence of process on form, cultural backgrounds and indigeneity, the balance of gravity and form, and the relationships between objects. Siin Siin approaches architectural and urban details at furniture scale, and treats ready-made and industrial materials as primary design tools. The studio has participated in Designart Tokyo and exhibited at Ginza Six as part of the A Tree series alongside Rio Kobayashi, Max Lamb, Faye Toogood, and Fabien Cappello. Work has been featured in Designboom.
