Stockholm, Sweden
ThamVidegård is a Stockholm-based architecture practice co-founded in 1999 by Bolle Tham (b. 1970) and Martin Videgård (b. 1968). The studio has evolved from a small atelier into an internationally recognized practice working across public buildings, private residences, cultural institutions, offices, and urban planning. An experimental approach runs consistently through the work, which is grounded in research, social context, and long-term building quality. Key completed projects include the Kalmar Museum of Art, which won the Kasper Salin Prize in 2008; the KTH School of Architecture in Stockholm, which won a second Kasper Salin Prize; Moderna Museet Malmö; and the Tree Hotel in Harads. The studio has received the Mies van der Rohe Award nomination and was named Design Vanguard 2009 by Architectural Record. ThamVidegård has been exhibited at the Venice Architecture Biennale (12th, 13th, and 15th editions), the Chicago Architecture Biennial, the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art, and the Victoria and Albert Museum in London. ArkDes, Sweden’s national centre for architecture and design, has presented a monographic retrospective of the studio’s work.
