Upper West Townhouse

Chango & Co creates calm interiors across three floors of a New York townhouse

Chango & Co renovates a 3-story New York townhouse on the Upper West Side. Neutral materials, a skylit staircase, and custom bouclé upholstery throughout.

Chango & Co designed the interiors for a townhouse on Manhattan's Upper West Side, with styling by Katja Greeff. The 3-story residence uses a narrow staircase along one wall, lit from above by a skylight at the top level.

The interiors use neutral tones and white walls, contrasting with the building's red brick exterior. Pale finishes create visual continuity between floors. The consistent palette works against the density of the surrounding neighborhood.

In the master bedroom, a custom boucle headboard extends along the wall and wraps around to form a bench. The continuous upholstered surface uses the same textile throughout, creating a soft boundary within the room.

White walls, pale wood, and natural textiles run through 3 floors of a narrow Manhattan townhouse. A single skylight at the top of the stairwell sends daylight down through the center of the building.
