Casa Moe

Etiam Studio creates adaptable Milan apartment

Etiam Studio designed Casa Moe for a young woman in Milan, Italy. The south-facing apartment features 5 skylights that flood the interior with natural light throughout the day. Each room functions as multi-purpose space to maximize the compact urban footprint.

The entrance opens to a C-shaped kitchen that flows directly into the dining area. Resin flooring in calming tones unifies the spaces and provides easy maintenance. The design preserves the apartment's original structure while optimizing varying ceiling heights throughout the historical building.

A custom birch wood furniture element spans from the living area into the bathroom, emphasizing the apartment's lower perimeter zones. The centerpiece is a transformable sofa designed by Etiam Studio that converts into a 2x2 meter bed using overhead straps. The camping-inspired design uses 2 blocks that occupants can reconfigure as needed.

The bedroom includes a built-in mirrored wardrobe that amplifies natural light from the skylights. Decorative carved details conceal an air conditioning unit. The bathroom features rectangular striped tiles and integrates a hidden laundry room within the birch cabinetry.

A small porthole in the bathroom wall houses a cat litter box. The convertible sofa, hidden laundry, and concealed porthole each address a specific requirement of the inhabitant's daily routine within the apartment's compact layout.
