Coffee Table NU is part of ASSIMPLY's NU collection, produced in the studio's Rio de Janeiro workshop by founders Victor Xavier and Søren Hallberg. The name is drawn from the Danish word for now. The piece is made entirely from materials salvaged from industrial waste streams: crushed ceramic bricks from demolished buildings, glass fragments, and reclaimed Bahia beige marble destined for disposal. These are combined into a composite tabletop through an extensive manual process, producing a surface that reads similarly to terrazzo but is made entirely from recovered material rather than virgin aggregate.

The surface is finished with nano-sealant and wax, applied by hand. The aluminum legs are cast from reclaimed metal using traditional sand molds, a process that fixes the liquid metal into the sand-formed cavity and produces a leg with surface texture that reflects its making. The manual finishing process runs through every stage of production, from collecting the source materials to the final wax application, which is a deliberate contrast to how these individual industrial materials typically end their life.

The result is a tabletop that reveals its composition up close. The various fragments of ceramic, glass, and marble are individually visible within the composite, and the surface changes in appearance depending on the angle and quality of light falling across it. Each table is unique to the particular combination of recovered materials that went into it.
