Mosley Thorold Architects is a London-based architecture practice co-founded in 2017 by Nathaniel Mosley and Henry Thorold. Both directors studied at the Architectural Association, having come to architecture via unusually varied routes: Mosley studied architectural history at the Courtauld Institute before training at the Bartlett and AA, winning prizes for his work at both, and has previously worked as a sole practitioner and tutor at international schools. Thorold came to architecture via a degree in physics and philosophy from Oxford before training at the AA and spending two and a half years at Hopkins Architects, working on projects including the Smith Campus Centre for Harvard University. Since co-founding the practice, Thorold has applied a detail-focused approach to buildings and objects at all scales, and is training as a certified passivhaus designer, with a particular focus on sustainable retrofitting of existing buildings. The practice places shared attention to making, physical modelling, and the construction process at the center of how it develops and communicates architectural ideas.
