Pieter Vanrenterghem

Zonnebeke, Belgium

Pieter Vanrenterghem is an interior architect based in West Flanders, Belgium, who founded his studio in Zonnebeke approximately a year after graduating from college in Ghent. The practice has been running for over 20 years and now operates with a small team. Vanrenterghem's approach is built around pared-back residential interiors that respond to their environment through natural materials and strict spatial alignment. His own description of the approach: the interiors are very clean and minimal and consist of specific alignments, and the use of natural materials softens these lines, making spaces feel more human. Recurring materials across the studio's work include travertine, polished concrete, rough-hewn stone, dark and light oak, and lime plaster, composed to create a tactile tension between different surfaces. Thomas De Bruyne photographs the studio's work consistently. Pieter Vanrenterghem received the Henry Van de Velde Company Award in 2026, Belgium's most prestigious design award. Work has been published in Imagicasa, Est Living, Archello, and international design press.
